Sexy Beast began in 2014 as a biennial art auction benefiting Planned Parenthood Los Angeles. As Sexy Beast’s Creative Director from 2017-19, I helped transform this biennial gala into an evergreen fundraising initiative that raised over $850k for PPLA through unmissable parties, coveted product collaborations and a powerful social media presence.
Starting with a colorful brand refresh, I developed and executed a winning strategy to grow Sexy Beast beyond its art world niche and engage a new generation of philanthropists in Planned Parenthood’s mission.
With dual goals of fundraising and coalition-building, we launched a multitude of exclusive product collaborations and sponsored events with Virgil Abloh, Jenny Holzer, Comedy Central, The Future Perfect, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Society6 and more.
Taking over as admin for @sexybeastla on Instagram, I transformed this dormant account into a must-follow daily digest of politics, pop culture and inspiration — growing our follower count over 2000% without paid media.
Our efforts culminated in the blow-out 2018 Sexy Beast Gala held at the Marciano Art Foundation, which hosted 1300 attendees and raised $700k in a single night. This truly unforgettable evening featured an expansive silent auction, a variety show with comedy, dance and musical performances, cuisine from LA’s most beloved restaurants and a dance party rager DJed by HAIM.
